The Legend of Zelda - A Link Between Worlds (3DS) - Video Trailer

News that a sequel to the Super Nintendo uber-classic, The Legend of Zelda : A Link To The Past, hit the interweb recently, and got everyone excited! The SNES game is one of the greatest games of all time and one I come back to time and time again thanks to it glorious 16-bit visuals, epic soundtrack, and exceptionally polished and fun gameplay. In my opinion, it has never been bettered by any further adventures of Link (and yes, I have played Ocarina of Time before you ask). The Minish Cap on GBA was an excellent adventure, as was Wind Waker on the Gamecube, but other than that, none have managed to grip me like the 3rd game in the series. But that could all change now, with the upcoming release of a 3DS exclusive sequel - now officially entitled A Link Between Worlds.

Before I go any further I ask, no demand, that you watch the following trailer. If this doesn't fill your heart with joy and excitement, then you may actually be dead - ask a relative or friend to check your pulse before you start trying to eat them.

Now that you have seen the magic above, I bet you are just as excited as me. The classic theme music and instantly recognisable sound effects. The familiar land and enemies. The updated visual style clearly inspired by the SNES prequel, but with a modern day twist, and the sight of the snake boss that we all remember from the desert dungeon.

Ah, it all comes flooding back! I am home again.

The new ability granted to Link, that allows him to become a 2D paper version of himself and stick to walls and platforms, looks like a great mechanic, and one that opens up lots of possibilities for finding hidden areas and secret items - something the original SNES game was brimming with.

I can't wait to delve into the new and expanded dungeons.

Let's hope that Nintendo can replicate the magic of A Link To The Past as this will be the greatest reason yet to own a 3DS, and is the reason I am now heading to Ebay to find one.
